Privacy Policy

This policy explains what happens to data when you use the Climate Scout Pro iOS app. The short version: the app has no accounts, no analytics SDKs, no advertising and no tracking. Nothing you type into it is sent to us.
1. Controller
The controller within the meaning of Article 4(7) GDPR is the person named above. A data protection officer has not been appointed, as the statutory thresholds of § 38 BDSG are not met.
2. What the app does not do
- No user account, no sign-up, no login.
- No analytics, crash-reporting, attribution or advertising SDKs.
- No tracking across apps or websites. The app does not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA) and does not present an App Tracking Transparency prompt, because it has nothing to track.
- No access to your contacts, photos, microphone, camera or precise device location.
- We never receive your name, e-mail address or payment details.
3. Data stored on your device
The following is written to your device (and, for the widget, to a shared app group container). It never leaves the device, is not readable by us, and is deleted when you delete the app.

Legal basis: Article 6(1)(b) GDPR — this processing is necessary to provide the service you requested. Retention: until you clear it in the app or delete the app.
4. Weather data requests (Open-Meteo)
When you run an analysis, the app sends the geographic coordinates of the destination you chose and the calendar dates of your trip to Open-Meteo (Open-Meteo, Zurich, Switzerland) in order to retrieve historical weather records.
The request necessarily discloses your device's IP address to Open-Meteo, as with any internet request. It does not contain your name, any identifier we generate, or your own location — only the destination you searched for.
- Purpose: retrieving the historical weather data the app is built to show.
- Legal basis: Article 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of the service).
- Transfer: Switzerland, a country for which the European Commission has issued an adequacy decision under Article 45 GDPR, so no further safeguards are required.

5. Destination search (Apple MapKit)
Typing a destination sends your search text to Apple's MapKit service so it can return matching places. This is processed by Apple under its own privacy policy, and Apple states that MapKit searches are not associated with your Apple Account.

6. Purchases and subscriptions
All purchases run through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple is the merchant of record. We never see or store your payment card, your billing address or your Apple Account. The app only asks Apple's StoreKit framework whether an active entitlement exists, and that answer stays on your device.

7. Sharing a report
The share button hands a text summary and an image to the standard iOS share sheet. Where that content goes is entirely your choice, and it is governed by the privacy policy of whichever app you send it to. Nothing is uploaded to us.
8. Ratings prompt
After a few successful analyses, the app may ask iOS to show Apple's standard rating prompt. This is handled entirely by the operating system. We receive no personal data from it, and any review you write is published under your Apple Account on the App Store, not here.
9. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access your personal data (Article 15);
- have inaccurate data corrected (Article 16);
- have data erased (Article 17);
- restrict processing (Article 18);
- receive your data in a portable format (Article 20);
- object to processing based on legitimate interests (Article 21);
- withdraw any consent you have given, with effect for the future (Article 7(3)).
In practice we hold no personal data about you, so for most of these requests the honest answer is that there is nothing on our side to access, correct or erase — everything the app stores sits on your own device and you can remove it yourself by clearing the history in the app or deleting the app. You are of course still free to contact us at gani_tunc@hotmail.com, and we will respond within one month as required by Article 12(3) GDPR.
10. Right to lodge a complaint
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the EU Member State of your habitual residence, place of work or the place of the alleged infringement (Article 77 GDPR). The authority competent for us is:
11. Automated decision-making
The app does not carry out automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal effects concerning you. The travel suggestions it shows are produced by simple, fixed rules applied to weather statistics on your device.
12. Children
Climate Scout Pro is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly process data from them.
13. Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the App Store release notes.
